(Glenview Fire)

The City suffered a devastating explosion and fire Thursday, September 9, 2010 at approximately 6:15 PM. A major gas line explosion occurred in the Glenview area. The incident immediately erupted into a major fire that has impacted many homes. Fire units from nine San Mateo County cities and over 200 law enforcement personnel assisted the units and over 200 law enforcement personnel assisted the San Bruno police and fire departments personnel with fire and traffic control.

Originally, 376 homes were evacuated and residents of 320 homes were returned to their homes as of September 15, 2010. The other homes were destroyed, have extensive damage or are in a police perimeter that encompasses the zone closest to the blast site.

The updated map of the impacted area outlines the current Police Buffer Zone and lists addresses that fall within that zone. The map shades in blue the 34 homes that were destroyed, in red and yellow the 21 homes that received major or moderate damage and are not currently habitable and in shades of green those homes with minor or no damage where residents have returned to their homes. The numbers on each housing lot do represent the house address.
