Public Works: Our Missionsweeper
Our mission is to provide the citizens of San Bruno, their elected representatives and our fellow City employees with rapid, professional and cost-effective Public Works services.  Our interaction will always be courteous, productive and beneficial to our clients.  We will continually strive to create a Public Works Department that sets an example of excellence in public service.

The Public Works Department is responsible for the overall planning, maintenance, operation and improvement of public infrastructure, including streets, storm drainage, wastewater collection, drinking water storage and distribution, and groundwater well production. The Department also provides project management services for a majority of the City's annual Capital Improvement Program.

SUSTAINABLE FOOD SERVICE WARE ORDINANCE
The City Council recently adopted a Sustainable Food Service Ware ordinance that requires food vendors in San Bruno to use disposable products that are resuable, recyclable or compostable by April 1, 2010. 90 days prior to the effective date, a sub committee of the City Council will review the ordinance with the restaurant community to determine the suitablity of sustainable products to high-heat foods as well as their cost relative to traditional products. In the meantime, the City encourages food vendors to switch over to sustainable products early and will be in touch to help facilitate such a transition.
