Sidewalk Repair Program
The Sidewalk Repair Program is aimed at providing safe and accessible public sidewalk for the community. A comprehensive sidewalk survey was conducted in 2015-2016 to identify sidewalk defects. Priority is given to repair locations with the greatest sidewalk uplift. Repair of sidewalk defects that are not caused by a City tree or City utility is the adjacent property owner's responsibility (City of San Bruno Municipal Code, Section 8.12.010). Property owners responsible for repairing defective sidewalk may participate in the Sidewalk Repair Program where the City’s contractor would perform the sidewalk repair at the property owner’s expense. The benefits of participating in this program include potentially lower unit pricing from the contractor and contract administration by the City. Property owners are encouraged to contact their own contractors to compare overall costs. Benefits of property owner self performance of work include likely accelerated timeline for completion and potentially lower costs. Property owners still interested in participating in the Sidewalk Repair Program may contact Public Works at PWEngineering@sanbruno.ca.gov or (650)616-7065 for more information.
Street Conditions - Pavement Condition Index
The Pavement Condition Index (PCI) is a numerical index between 0 and 100, which is based on a visual assessment and is used to indicate the ground condition of a pavement section. A Pavement Management Program that contains PCI information identifies maintenance and rehabilitation needs and ensures that road maintenance budgets are spent wisely. All streets in San Bruno are assessed and given a PCI number (from 0 to 100). The PCI are one factor in determining which roads will be treated with preventative maintenance as part of a Street Slurry Seal Project or rehabilitated as part of the Street Rehabilitation Program.
