Senior Center Services and Reconstruction

UPDATE – August 17, 2017

Demolition of the damaged portion of the Senior Center was completed on Monday, August 14. Representatives are scheduled to perform diesel/oil clean-up on Friday, August 18 which will likely take approximately two to three days to complete. While the demolition and clean-up are performed, the reconstruction drawings are being finalized and are expected to be submitted for review by Friday, August 25.

While the damage to the Senior Center is confined to a relatively small section of the building, the damage is significant and will take some time to repair. Once construction begins, staff anticipates it will take approximately 2-3 months to complete. Staff expects to have the Senior Center fully restored and back in full operation by early 2018.

UPDATE – August 10, 2017

The City of San Bruno recently hired a construction firm to begin demolition of the damaged portion of the Senior Center caused by a vehicle accident . Demolition began on Monday, August 7 and is expected to continue through Tuesday, August 15. Once the demolition is complete, an environmental team will perform diesel/oil clean up before reconstruction can begin.

June 19, 2017

On Monday, June 19, 2017, a vehicle accident damaged the San Bruno Senior Center and caused a brief interruption in the delivery of senior programs. While the City works towards repairing the Senior Center, the Senior Citizen Nutrition Program will be relocated to Saint Robert’s Church’s Hennessy Hall on Oak Avenue until further notice. Senior programs will be held at the Senior Center, Recreation Center, and Portola Performing Arts Center.
