Happy National Public Works Week!
Who ensures San Bruno’s water is safe to drink; our streets are safe to drive; and all of the City’s publicly owned infrastructure is repaired after winter storms like what we experienced earlier this year?
San Bruno Public Works team’s hard work can oftentimes go unseen but makes a profound impact in our day-to-day lives.
Join us this week in celebrating our incredible Public Works staff across our Administration and Engineering, Fleet and Facilities, Streets and Stormwater, Wastewater, and Water divisions.
Administration and Engineering
With the recent winter storms, our Administration and Engineering Division team has needed to perform hillside inspections to determine the structural stability of certain slopes. In the case shown here, a shed detached from a resident’s property and slid down a hill. Engineers were dispatched to determine how long the shed had been there, the distance from the resident’s property, and what next steps were needed to address the issue. Our Administration and Engineering team member Matt is “wheely” good at measuring distances.
Fleet and Facilities
You know what’s really cool? San Bruno’s upgraded HVAC systems!
Recently the Public Work’s Fleet and Facilities Division upgraded several HVAC systems at City facilities including replacements at the San Bruno Library, San Bruno Senior Center, and CityNet Services Data Center systems. These pictures demonstrate the large HVAC systems being carried into their final cooling place via crane.
Water
Well… wat’er we have here?
The City has four active groundwater wells maintained by our Water Division, who ensure that our water service system is delivering safe and high-quality water throughout the City.
Did you know that the average daily water production for the City is approximately 3 million gallons per day? That’s all thanks to Public Works Water Division.
