The City of San Bruno offers a generous retirement benefit managed by the California Public Employee Retirement System (CalPERS). An employee's annual lifetime retirement benefit is determined by years of service and retirement formula percentage. For example, new PEPRA members receive 2% at 62. This means that for every year of service, an employee who retires at 62 will receive 2% of their highest three-year averaged salary. For example, an employee with 30 years of service will receive 60% (30 years times 2%) of their highest three-year averaged salary, as an annual lifetime benefit, beginning at age 62.
